OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS we moved away from postal mailings to rely almost completely on our e-mail list to
spread the word about SCP events.
Now, however, as unsolicited "spam" e-mail
has become so prevalent, and because e-mail can be so easily forwarded several
rings beyond our circle of friends and friends of friends, we will be going
back to a mix of postal mail and e-mail. Indeed, sometimes the obvious
cost and delivery advantages of the e-mail medium are outweighed by its
negatives. |

We also use our list to pass along non-SCP event information of possible interest to SCP e-mail list subscribers (usually pertaining to events we are involved with unofficially or in a supporting capacity). The current list has a subscription base of over 6,800 peoplebut, unlike other lists that may be larger, all of our subscribers are linked to each in some way by no more than a few degrees of separation. SCP list members either opt in, are added by our hosts, or are added after registering for an event. You may unsubscribe from the SCP list at any time. |
