The HeartThrob Ball is one of the most successful charity fundraiser
events in the Washington, DC area. This black tie party is firmly
established on the Washington social calendar and last year's event
attracted over 1,300 guests from the area's legal, medical, financial,
legislative, and government communities --- all while raising money
to help the American Heart Association in their fight against heart
disease and stroke.
Last's year event sold out. Due to the size of the Reagan Building,
a colossal new landmark in its own right (see the Washington Post's
review at http://yp.washingtonpost.com/E/V/WASDC/0024/89/58/), this
year there is MUCH more space and many bars have been added near
exciting Ports of Call in the tradition of fine French, Caribbean,
Mediterranean, Asian, Latin American, and other world travel
destinations!
$85 tickets to the 1999 HeartThrob Ball are available online at
http://www.americanheart.org/dc/heartthrob/buy_tix.html. Guests may
also place phone orders by calling the AHA at (202) 686-6888.

The American Heart Association's mission is to reduce disability
and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Heart disease is
the number one killer in the District of Columbia and the nation.
Diseases of the heart kill more people than cancer, diabetes and
AIDS combined. Only through the continued support of qualified
research projects and tailored educational opportunities can we
bridge the gap between current knowledge and future lifesaving
techniques.
The American Heart Association, National Capital Area Council is a
501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization. The fair market value
for each ticket to the Ball is $50 and $80 to the VIP Reception and
Ball (call for details). All contributions over the fair market
value are tax-deductible as provided by law.

sponsor listings and silent auction information, please visit

Arnold (harnold@heart.org) at the American Heart Association at
