Slackers Beware: IT'S JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS AWAY!
Join alumni and friends from several universities as we celebrate the
74th Running of the Virginia Gold Cup Classic on the first Saturday
of May!
The local William & Mary alumni chapter is supplying chartered buses,
plenty of food and liquid refreshment (including open bar), and a big
chalet tent of shade with private bathroom facilities strategically
placed alongside UVa, JMU, and other local alumni chapters on the
popular North Rail in what has become the very first Gold Cup
"University Row": A party conceived by the collective wisdom of
hundreds of our nation's best and brightest!
Buses will be departing from Clarendon Grill (http://www.cgrill.com)
in Arlington at 10:30am.
R-i-g-h-t a-f-t-e-r our day at the races we will arrive back at
Clarendon Grill for a post-Gold Cup party, featuring drink and
appetizer specials for all! The Clarendon Grill is located one block
from the Clarendon Metrorail station at 1101 N. Highland Street in
Arlington (see http://washington.sidewalk.com/map?EID=27124 for an
an online map).
Live music by 3% Fat will be featured as the post-party continues
(see http://www.outersound.com/band/3fat/ for more.)
Please be advised that you may bring your own refreshments with you
on the bus, but regulations prohibit you entering the Gold Cup
grounds with them.
* TO AVOID THE POSSIBILITY OF MISSING THE BUS DUE TO UNFORSEEN TRAFFIC
OR PARKING PROBLEMS, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU PLAN ON BEING AT CG
BY 10:00AM. And, for a bevy of reasons, we recommend the use of
public transportation (Metrorail, taxis, etc.).
Spring Gold Cup is an annual steeplechase event held the first
Saturday of May each year at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia.
