          Affairs of the Heart Gala

IN CELEBRATION of 35 years of care and commitment, the Washington Free Clinic invites you to its annual Affairs of the Heart gala this Friday, October 31st, from 8:00pm until midnight at the beautiful Organization of American States building at 17th Street & Constitution Avenue NW.

Tickets are $100 with all proceeds benefiting the clinic. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, silent auction, and great salsa music included! Black tie optional.

          St. Ann's Donations Needed

ST. ANN's Infant and Maternity Center was the recipient of funds from last year's New Year's Eve silent auction and the wine tasting event hosted in April by Sander and Siobhan Mueller.

St. Ann's now has pressing needs for children in their care, ages 8 to 12. These children are badly in need of new clothes to play in and wear to school. Items currently needed for St. Ann's children are listed below.

These items must be new and/or never worn or used:

  • short-sleeved shirts (sized 14-16)

  • pants or shots (size 14-16)

  • boys or girls pajamas (sizes 4-16)

  • gift certificates to Target, Old Navy, Hecht's, Payless

  • gift certificates to McDonald's

  • monetary donations for "Activity Fund" and "Sunshine Fund"

  • bike helmets, elbow and knee pads

  • craft-related materials (markers, constructions paper, finger paint, glue, etc.)

  • pull ups

  • Dove soap

  • Vaseline

  • baby wipes

  • diapers (sizes newborn, 2,4,5,6)

  • tape recorders

  • Aveeno products

  • 600 Polaroid film

  • alarm clocks

  • flashlights

Larger items needed:

  • wooden rocking chair

  • cool mist humidifiers

  • vacuum cleaners

Other SCP events have been held at the University Club, Carpool, Rock Bottom Ballston, Mike Baker’s, Gaffney's, Hotel Washington, Starboard (Dewey Beach), Thompsons Boat House, Gordon Biersch, Rhodeside Grill, Music City Roadhouse, King Pepper, Tortilla Coast, Head's, Clarendon Grill, Sequoia, the Dubliner, Ozio, and the Center Cafe at Union Station.
